Like all things in life with three boys, getting this project going was slow moving. Not because we weren't excited to get going but t-ball, work, ear infections, etc. have a way of getting themselves in the way of gardening! Good thing this isn' t our sole food source.
Jason did an awesome job building the raised bed on Mother's Day. He did an equally awesome job unloading a pick up truck full of compost into our new garden. We admired our veggie less garden for nearly two weeks but today- she is looking much more official with squash, watermelon, melon, cucumbers, green beans and tomatoes proudly growing inside!
After an adventuresome trip to Loew's where Charlie drank from the birdbath and Matthew fell into a display case, we found a nice man who did not know what organic plants were, so we meandered down to our local nursery instead (just to be safe). In retrospect, if my son just drank from a birdbath, we probably could have saved ourselves the trip and gone with the non-organics, but when you are on a mission, you are on a mission.
Upon arriving at store two, Matt and Charlie loaded up their wagons and went home to start their garden. I must say besides Holden falling from the bean stalk and smooshing everything underfoot- we are off to a great start. Let the growing begin!

If I am raising boys, I can raise cucumbers...
| Holden Sheriff enjoys some outside time. Food for thought: Today, children spend less than thirty-minutes a week outside engaged in unstructured play. Clear your calendar and get outdoors! |
